BUILT-UP ROOFING "BUR"

Built up roofing systems, often referred to as BUR, have been used in the roofing industry for over a century. These roof systems are built with layers of felt and bitumen to provide redundancy and long-term protection. They are then protected from the elements by gravel, a mineral sheet cap, or other weather-resistant coatings. Furthermore, both BUR and Mod-Bit roof systems can be installed with a wide range of coatings and colors.

Flexibility & Value added Solutions

Asphalt, coal tar, or cold-applied adhesive are the most common bitumens used in built-up roof systems. The asphalt or coal tar is heated in a kettle or tanker before being spread with a mop or a mechanical spreader. Because these adhesives are solvent-based asphalts, they do not require heating to be applied.
Built-up roof surfacings with aggregate, such as gravel, slag, or mineral granules, as well as glass-fiber or mineral surfaced cap sheets, are available. Hot asphalt mopped over the entire surface, aluminum coatings, or elastomeric coatings are other options.
Multiple layers of bitumen provide extremely sound and long-lasting protection.
